Chris started his career at the tender age of 16, serving as an electrician in the Royal Navy Submarine Service. His creative career began when he discovered he had a talent for creative writing (and business!!), when he began ghost writing poems and romantic letters for his shipmates to their loved ones, for a small fee of course!!!.It wasn’t long before he was writing and performing in “It Ain’t Half Hot Mum” style shows to entertain his comrades on long trips away. After 8 years Chris left the navy and spent time as a mobile D.J, a “20’s” Holiday Rep, a compare for a touring band, a Butlins redcoat and a double glazing salesman. During this time he developed a passion for stand-up comedy and having served his apprenticeship in talent contents, pubs and clubs he went on to forge a successful career as a professional comedian. Chris has worked all over the world in such diverse places as The Falklands, Oman, America, The Caribbean, The Balearic Islands and Wigan; working with stars such as Jim Davidson, Bob Monkhouse, The Krankies, Mick Millar, The Grumbleweeds, Noel Edmonds, Bernard Manning as well as several other dinosaurs of the entertainment industry!!! During this time he also developed a career within the Rank Organization rising to become Executive Head of Entertainment for a “Butlins Holiday World Resort”. In 1996 Chris felt, based on his time spent within the entertainment industry, that a market place existed for exceptional, high quality theatrical touring productions and M&M Theatrical Productions was born. Along with the other company founder, Maggie Holloway, he set about revolutionizing what had been to this point, a tired poorly funded branch of the industry. From the outset Chris and Maggie were determined to bring a truly theatrical experience to their customers. Scripts were meticulously researched to ensure the needs of the audience and not the performers were realised. No expense was spared on providing full scale ingeniously designed stage sets that could be built up in any size venue to give a real “Theatre Feel” to the ever expanding company production repertoire. Chris is proud of what M&M Productions has become in the 13 years since it all began with an idea, a telephone and some good old fashioned elbow grease. The company now employees 22 full time, truly dedicated, head office personnel and around 250 talented, committed actors a year. Still very much hands on, Chris believes the company must always develop and strive to ensure we stay at the very top of our game. Although very much at the helm of the company Chris can still be occasionally found touting his “Comedy” wares to willing audiences on various cruise ships throughout the world, or even simply launching into a new routine as the light comes on when he opens the fridge door!!!! |
